Title: The Serpent & The Sphere
Format: CD Digipak with Die Cut Front Panel
Description: With ‘The Serpent & The Sphere’ Agalloch have once more divided opinion over their continued progression as they continue to meld the worlds of Black Metal and Folk through their vision of doomed melody that I can only see as a direct reflection of their distant Oregon surroundings. I for one am more than happy with the continued use of the harsher elements of their Black Metal palette, as on ‘Marrow Of The Spirit’, while the instrumental passages are preferred to the overtly quiet interludes on some of their previous works. Agalloch’s album’s never come across as instant “hits” for me so I look forward to how this will grow and develop the more I invest in it, I am sure it will be one to savor.
